The material for this album was written towards the end of 1990, and, released initially in 1991, was remastered in 1998. It still sounds, however, like a "monument to a past epoch." "A zombie playing a trumpet" was in its own way a hymn going back into the past.
The album is inhabited by certain strange and wondrous creatures, some "terrible bacchae," and other Tolkienian organisms barely recognizable in the dark. In other words, personifying that uncertain, twilit period in history. The voice of Armen Grigoryan also doesn't sound very convincing. But even the phantoms aren't that impressive- they turned out to be tame and not at all scary. And the general atmosphere of the album is somber and a little exhausted.
In comparison to the record from 1991, the re-release has two new tracks- an introduction entitled "Klofelin" (a "horror" instrumental), the sweet "Ballad," fully appropriate for mass listening as an example of very soft jazz.
