Popular Web site MP3.com has for the first time paid aсts for the use of their music. Sweden's Trance Control earned $4,556 during the site's "Payback For Playback" promotion, which rewards unsigned acts on the site who have the most popular downloaded tracks. MP3.com earmarked $200,000 to be divided among the top ten downloaded artists for the month of November; the site will distribute another $200,000 to the top artists in December.
